Gisele Bundchen has been making sports headlines for a fourth day after New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said: “She just needs to continue to stay cute and shut up”. After a storm on Twitter – where Jacobs found himself called a “Neanderthal;” mocked for earning less money than Gisele; and it was pointed out that Gisele made the same impact on the game as he did – Jacobs apologised:
“Given the fact that it’s a colleague of mine’s wife, I do apologise for saying that, because I shouldn’t have said that,” Jacobs said on ESPN’s The Doug Gottlieb Show yesterday. “It’s his wife and I should respect that just as much as anyone else.”
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is facing a backlash today from her husband Tom Brady’s NFL teammates, after she was overheard criticising the other New England Patriot players. A video, taped without Bundchen’s knowledge, shows her responding to fans heckling her about Brady’s performance.
“My husband cannot fucking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time,” she says on the film. “I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”
Brady, whose role as quarterback involves creating plays, may have a tough time when he returns to the dressing room this week, with anonymous sources close to the team telling gossip website TMZ that many of the players are “disappointed” with her words, which they said violated the “code of brotherhood” – adding, “It’s like knocking someone when they are down”.
Gisele Bundchen fought back tears last night as she consoled her husband Tom Brady following his team’s Super Bowl defeat. The supermodel – who had asked her friends to pray for Brady’s team; sending their “positive energy so he can feel confident, healthy and strong” before the game – looked bitterly disappointed as she spoke to him after the New England Patriots’ 21-17 loss to the New York Giants. But Brady was more philosophical.
“As a competitor, we all hate to lose,” Brady said. “We fight as hard as we can and sometimes you get beat. I’m proud of our team for the way that we hung in there all season. We just kept fighting until the end and it came down to one play at the end of the game. If we make it, we’re world champs, and if we’re not, then we’re wishing we were. I give the Giants a lot of credit for the plays they made. They deserved to win and hopefully we’ll be back at some point.”
